The Salley Home located in Pinehurst's Fairwoods on 7 Won the Award of Excellence in 2003 by the Moore County Home Builders Association.

One of just a few contemporary houses in the competition, this home is laced with unusual elements. With 9,534 square feet of living space, the home features a dry sauna in the basement, a tasting room in the wine cellar, a hand carved stone fireplace and columns imported from Mexico, and numerous built ins that particularly impressed the judges.

Though the severe slope of the site initially presented a challenge, Step One Design drew the plans that ultimately overcame the difficulty. The landscape design brings into play a long list including dogwoods, weeping cherries, wax myrtle, mahonia, gardenia and more - eye candy that warranted the installation of custom made glass windows in the breakfast room to offer uninterrupted views of the gardens.
